About Uma

Please allow me to tell you my story.

I came to know my sexuality, like most, as a teenager. Learning about myself from what was available to me – my peers, who knew even less then I did, and pornography. Porn taught me that sex was hard and fast and that intimacy was not part of it. Love as well was missing from the equation.

My quest for spirituality started in my teens as well. I studied yoga, meditation, read all the books I could find about eastern and western spirituality and as soon as I was old enough I went to India, the land of spirituality. I spent many years traveling from temple to temple, visiting one holy town after the other, listening to many wise gurus. I explored Judaism, Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism. They all had many good things to say and I listened with an open heart and learned much.

But something was missing. I didn’t know what it was, but I knew it wasn’t there.

My journey with Tantra started some years back. I had a wonderful partner, we were very much in love but our sex life, after 7 years of being together became mundane and a bit boring. In one of my visits to India I spent some time in the temples of khajuraho where I came across these ancient teachings called Tantra. They were no longer widely  practiced in India, but were increasingly being taught in the west. What started as an exploration of sexuality with others became a journey of self exploration. I discovered the connection between my sexuality and my spirituality. That “something” that had been missing in me for all these years.

I found that allowing my sexuality to flow freely, allowing myself to love freely without any attachments was not only an easy and natural thing to do but also deeply spiritual. It made me whole.

I feel happy and privileged to be able to share my knowledge and the experience that I have gained over the years. Accompanying others on their sacred sexual journey is the life path that I have chosen. It gives me great joy and satisfaction sharing a true connection with another, opening the path in our bodies that connects our genitals, heart and spirit. The path that allow us to heal ourselves.

I am a certified somatic sexologist and a member of the Somatic Sex Educators Association of Australasia. I have been trained in classic tantra, neo-tantra, taoism, sexual shamanism and modern sexology.
